PPE-Up Leimert Park

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

Our Leimert Park PPE-Up hosted by Hot & Cool Cafe located at the heart of South Los Angeles was a huge hit attracting hundreds of businesses from all over LA. A great number of our partners joined in the effort to contribute to this epic one-of-a-kind event.

Thanks to Hot & Cool Cafe

Anthony Jolly, owner of Hot & Cool Cafe, allowed us to stage the event at his restaurant location and provided volunteers throughout the day to help with setup and distribution.

“As small businesses grapple with both financially surviving this pandemic and

increased costs related to protecting ourselves and our customers, our staff is faced

with physical wellness concerns as essential workers during this time,” said Anthony

Jolly. “PPE is essential to our ability to survive while servicing our communities.”

Thanks to the Los Angeles County Officials & SBDC

Caroline Torosis, Director of LA County WDACS, and Supervisor Holly Mitchell's office volunteered to help organize and pass out supplies at the event. Former Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas also stopped by to show his support for the event.

We are grateful to Pat Nye, Director of the LA SBDC Network, and Collette, Director of PCR SBDC, who was present to help with distribution and ensuring staff was properly organized and equipped to safely engage with businesses.
